Enjoyable Dog Training |
|
We devote our spare time to dogs and these pictures show some typical group training classes with happy dogs and owners, enjoying each others company.
Young or old, big or small, pooch or pedigree we train them all. We teach the owner how to read their dog’s body language and then to train their dog, using the voice to praise and correct with simple commands. Our aim is to develop a confidence and trust so that a rewarding relationship can build up, giving years of enjoyment for both the dog and the owner.
We hold puppy and beginners classes on Saturday mornings where the emphasis is on play and socialisation. The earlier a dog learns to play with other dogs the happier and more confident it (and the owner) will be, so we let them play off lead before we teach them anything. Once the puppy has tired itself out playing with the others we introduce the basic commands and build up a vocabulary of terms and skills ready for the next stage on Sunday mornings.
Group socialisation and obedience classes are held each Sunday where dogs of any age can join in. Whilst we still encourage off lead playtime we place the emphasis on developing the obedience levels to a point where dogs can walk to heel or be placed in one of the stay wait positions while the owner attends to other matters. The true test of control is the long distance recall where the dog will be brought back to present position in a controlled and reliable way.
A trained older dog communicating with a puppy who then copies the adult dog. A good example of learning by off lead socialisation.
In addition to our weekend group lessons we also provide one to one behavioural assessment and correction sessions and advanced security training, if appropriate, during the week, by special arrangement. We charge £5 per dog for group lessons and £20 per hour for one to one sessions.
Below is Jetta who was a rescued dog because he was not taught to socialise as a puppy, and had become an unpredictable biter. By the age of 2 he had spent several months in kennels but he was given the chance to live and train with us and has now been re-homed in a very happy family home, having learnt how to interact with other dogs and enjoy life. He still comes back to us for the occasional refresher and social event and of course he gets spoilt by everyone. Great dog, lousy photo!
